FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT (UPDATE)

Kathmandu, 11 April: Nepal and North Korea Monday entered the next
Round of AFC Challenge Cup football tournament Monday
emerging on top in the qualifying round of Group D matches.
Nepal drew with Sri Lanka 1-1 to enter the next round collecting four
Points from one win and one draw.
North Korea emerged top of the group defeating Afghanistan 2-0 to win
all three matches.

TWO APPELLATE COURT JUDGED SUSPENDED (UPDATE WITH
CORRECTION)


Kathmandu, 11 April: A meeting of the judicial council chaired by outgoing Chief Justice Ram Prasad Monday suspended appellate court justices of Pokhara and Hetauda Om Prasad Subedi and Tek Bahaduir Karki respectively for bad conduct.
Four district judges, including woman judge Sita Pokhrel, were warned with threat of action if conduct was’t improved in one year.

UML KATHMANDU LEADER ATTACKED

Kathmandu, 11 April: UML Kathmandu district leader Gokarna Bista was
attacked with a sharp weapon Monday evening in the city outskirt by
unknown assailants.
He’s been admitted to hospital for treatment.

RESIGNATION OF NC STUDENT LEADER ACCEPTED.

Kathmandu, 11 April: Resignation of Pradip Paudel, chief of Nepal
Students’ Union—a student wing of main opposition NC, was accepted Monday
by party President Sushil Koirala.
A central committee meet of the party has been convened for Friday
with a whip issued asking all members to be present.
Supporters of three-time Prime Minster Sher Bahadur Deuba walked out
of the meeting Thursday as Koirala supporters pushed for fresh elections
in the body dissolving the present leadership.

NC DEMANDS GOVT.EXPLANATION

Kathmandu, 11 April: NC leader Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat Monday
demanded in parliament a government statement of the battering of locals
Sunday at Jutepani by former Maoist combatants at the 3rd brigade in
Shaktikhor camp.
Mahat charged the former fighters broke a code of conduct by coming
out of the camp to thrash locals following a dispuite over a playground.
Locals Monday afternoon disrupted movement of vehicles along the
Narayanghad-Hetauda section of Mahendra Highway as dozens of
hundreds of passengers were stranded.

PRINCIPAL SHOT DEAD IN KASKI

Kathmandu, 11 April; Bishnu Hari Khanal, a principal of a school at a village in Kaski and secretary of a forest users’ group, was shot dead overnight in the western district.
The reason for shooting wasn’t known; assailants haven’t been identified.
