PM EXPANDING GOVT. WITH PARTY MEMBERS

PM KHANAL EXPANDING GOVT.

Kathmandu, 11 April: Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal is
Expanding his government Monday by inducting only his party members
in government, his press aide said.
Five cabinet and several junior ministers are being inducted in the
eight-member team of UML and Maoist representatives.
Khanal took the move after Maoists refused to furnish additional members of the Maoist government team without getting the home ministry portfolio.
MJFN which has been assured three ministries hasn’t submitted its
list as well demanding four ministries.

PM SAYS CA WON’T BE DISSOLVED UNTIL A CONSTITUTION IS
DRAFTED

Kathmandu, 11 April: Prime Minister Jhanlanath Khanal said Monday the
constituent assembly (CA) won’t be dissolved until a constitution is promulgated.
Khanal said the CA was elected to draft a basic law.
The premier said this while inaugurating the 45h session of the FNCCI
The tenure of the assembly ends 28 May amid fears a basic law won’t be
promulgated by the extended deadline.
Parties are engaged only in power play to grab or hold on to government.
Khanal made the comment amid speculation of the CA’s future.
Some demand its tenure extension like Khanal; another section is demanding promulgation of a document incorporating articles on which major
parties have agreed; others demand its dissolution and fresh election for a
new assembly.
Election is being held Tuesday for the leadership of the FNCCI.
Suraj Vaidya and Azad Shrestha are the contenders; they have for the first
time announced panels of office bearers.

SIT-IN BEFORE BIR HOSPITAL

Kathmandu, 11 April: Business leaders led by Rajendra Khetan of the Khetan Group staged a sit-in Monday in front of Bir Hospital where a trader Anjani Kumar was was shot dead in the capital Sunday night.
He died while being treated for bullet injuries at the hospita.l.
The business leaders demanded the presence of the prime minister at the
hospital demanding security.
Protestors prevented the transfer of the body to Teaching Hospital for
post-mortem.
