FORMER IGP HEM BAHADUR GURUNG SENT TO JAIL NEWS UPDATE

Kathmandu, 14 July: Former IGP Hem Bahadur Guring was sent to jail Thursday after he failed to furnish a Rs. 50 million bail posted by a three-member bench of a special court.
He was charged by CIAA for involvement in a Rs 280 million Darfur, Sudan, scam for purchase of armed personnel carriers for Nepal Police personnel attached with the UN peacekeeping mission in the African state.

UPDATE ON BUDGET PRESENTATION

Kathmandu, 14 July: Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bharat Mohan Adhikari told reporters. budget presentation was postponed until one in the afternoon Friday at the request of five Madeshibadi political parties.
He looked dejected at he talked briefly with journalists whose questions weren’t addressed.
He entered parliament Thursday afternoon with the sealed budget expecting no obstruction of presentation for the first time in three years.
The budget hasn’t been presented on time after a republic declaration three years ago,
Parliament’s session was postponed Thursday by pasting a notice on the board.
Riling parties—UCPN (Maoist) and UML and main opposition NC will conduct negotiations with the Madesh parties.

NC adopted a hazy position saying it will support the document on programmes and policies included in it.
Adhikari apologized for inconvenience caused by the delayed budget presentation.
Analysts said this is the first time sealed budget hasn’t been presented even as Maoists, then in the opposition, seized and destroyed it leaking the secret document last year.
Presentation this year has been delayed by one day.
Analysts said political parties were using a ‘national document’ essentially to limited push political party agendas.
