FOREIGN MINISTRY APPROVES APPOINTMENT OF SIX LABOUR ATTACHES

Kathmandu, 5 Nov.: Foreign ministry has approved the appointments of
six labour attaches to Nepali embassies abroad.
The approval was given to the labour ministry.
Amal Kiran Dhakal , Krishna Hari Puskar have been appointed to Malaysia and South Korea respectively while Chandeswor Acharya has been nominated to Saudi Arabia and Hira Devi Poudel to UAE.
Srijana Tiwari Panta has been posted to Kuwait and Indra Dev Pandey
to Qatar.
Attaches are being appointed to Kuwait and South Korea for
the first time.

FINAL SUDAN SCAM HEARING 14 NOVEMBER

Kathmandu, 5 Nov.: Final hearing of Sudan scam was fixed Friday by a special court for 14 November.
Thirty-four police officers, including three IGPs of Nepal Police, and two business persons were charged in the Rs. 290 million scam for the procurement of armoured personnel carriers (APCs) for Nepal Police peacekeepers with UN in Darfur, Sudan.
The APCs were faulty.
No home minister and home ministry official was charged in
the scam despite widespread belief that appointments, transfers ad major purchases in two police bodies under the home ministry aren’t
possible without approval of the minister and senior ministry officials.

NEPAL’S FIRST DIG DEAD

Kathmandu, 5 Nov.: Tek Narayan Shrestha, Nepal’s first DIG,
died Friday.
He was 100.
Shrestha was appointed by the Rana-Nepali Congress after the Rana downfall in 2007 BS.
He is survived by three sons and four daughters.
Tek Narayan was involved for sometime with the nascent tourism industry
