CHINESE PREMIER WEN CONCLUDES NEPAL VISIT
Kathmandu, 14 Jan.: Chinese Prime Minster Wen Jiabao concluded a four-hour visit to Nepal he transited Saturday en route to the Gulf
The premier, who is also secretary of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, flew for Doha, Qatar from Kathmandu where he held discussions with Prime Minister Bburam Bhattarai and President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav.
Prime Minister Bhattarai bid farewell to his Chinese counterpart.
The government of China has agreed to pledge 750 million US dollar grant assistance to Nepal for the physical infrastructure development of the country, RSS reports.
The agreement was made during a high-level bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai and visiting Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao at the office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singhadurbar on Saturday.
On the occasion, Chinese Premier Jiabao said China was ready to help as much as it could for the peace and constitution in Nepal.
According to Press Advisor to the Prime Minister, Ram Rijhan Yadav, Prime Minister Bhattarai briefed his Chinese counterpart about the ongoing peace process and constitution writing in Nepal.
Various eight agreements have been signed between Nepal and China in the presence of the two prime ministers. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha and Foreign Minister of China signed the agreement on dry port management in Nepal-China border, frontier pasture agreement, and agreement on exchange of assistance between the foreign ministries of the two countries.
Similarly, Finance Minister Barsha Man Pun and his Chinese counterpart signed the agreements on economic and technical assistance promotion, establishment of training academy for the Armed Police Force of Nepal, and three others on providing various logistic supports to the Nepal Police.
Furthermore, an agreement was reached between the two countries to set up a mechanism for the cultural exchange and loan management.
