SECRETARIAT OF SPECIAL COMMITTEE WORKING OUT MODALITY
FOR MAOIST INTEGRATION

Kathmandu, 26 March: The secretariat of a special committee for integration and supervision of former Maoist PLA fighters continued its meeting Monday to
prepare modality for integration of combatants in Nepal Army (NA).
There was no agreement Sunday following differences amongst members,
Suggestions were asked by the special committee to integrate 6,500 fighters in
The state army from 9,900 fighters with a 7-point agreement between parties as the
reference point.
Rank of Maoists joining the army will be decided politically by parties.
But there have been calls in the secretariat on Maoists demands for
amendment in military act and laws to relax terms for enrolment
The secretariat has to submit a report for the special session’s plenary meet Tuesday.

RECORD REMITTANCE
Kathmandu, 26 March: Remittance from workers increased 35.5 percent in the
first seven months of the current fiscal year to Rs, 188.9 billion compared to an
11 percent growth the same period the previous year, Nepal Rashtra Bank (NRB) said.
Inflation rose to 7 percent in mid-February 2012 because of increased food and transport costs.
Trade deficit jumped 17.6 percent in the first seven months of the current fiscal year to Rs. 212.36 billion compared to the same pervious year, according to NRB.
Imports increased 16.9 percent to Rs 254.95 billion in review period while
exports jumped by only 16.9 per cent as compared to the same period last fiscal year.

The country has a balance of payment surplus of Rs 75.09 billion compared to
a deficit of Rs 13.04 billion in the same period the previous year.
The surplus is the result of growth in remittance inflow and improvement in
service accounts.

TRUKISH AIRLINES BEGINNING NEPAL FLIGHTS

Kathmandu, 26 March: Turkish Airlines in beginning flights between Anakara
and Kathmandu later this year.
Officials of the two countries are discussing whether the flight will be direct or routed through New Delhi.
Zenith Travels has been appointed the GSA of the airline for Nepal.
