MUSTANG VISIT TO INDIAN ARMY CHIEF CANCELLED Kathmandu, 12 July: The flying visit of Indian Army Chief Gen. Bikram Singh to inspect the Nepal’s High Altitude Mountain Warfare School in Mustang was cancelled because of inclement weather Thursday. Thursday is the third day of his five-day official Nepal visit. Nnnn NEPALI AMBASSADOR PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO PAKISAN PRESIDENT ; Kathmandu, 12 Nepali Ambassador Bharat Raj Paudyal Thursday presented his credentials to President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari amidst a special ceremony at Presidential Palace. The ambassador paid a courtesy call on the president. According to a press statement issued by Embassy of Pakistan, Ambassador Paudyal had a courtesy call on the President Zardari following the credential ceremony. "Matters of bilateral relations between the two countries were discussed on the occasion,” the statement said. ANTI-TYPHOID VACCINATION IN CAPITAL Kathmandu, 12 July: The Ministry of Health and Population is to launch a vaccination campaign against typhoid fever in Kathmandu district in the near future, RSS reports. According to Child Health Division under the Ministry, the Ministry has already geared for internal preparations for the anti-typhoid vaccination campaign. Information about this was given out at a press meet organized by the Division here today. The Ministry has decided to launch the campaign in Kathmandu also, following positive outcome of the previous campaigns launched in Bhaktapur and Lalitpur districts, said Division Chief Dr Shyamraj Upreti. Typhoid, one of the most common diseases on children under 15, is caused by Salmonella typhosa virus. Consumption of polluted water is the main cause of typhoid fever. According to Dr Upreti, Kathmandu is a high-risk zone in view of the typhoid fever. nnnn LIGHTNING DEATH TOLL IN MORANG JUMPS TO FOUR Kathmandu, 12 July: Two more people died in separate incidents of lightning in Morang on Wednesday night. The latest victims are Ramesh Kewat, 24, of Motipur- 1 and Deepak Khanal, 13, of Sautha-7, RSS reports from Morang. Ramesh was working at a paddy field and Deepak was in the house when the incidents took place. Earlier, Bikram Gurung, 22, of Budhanagar VDC- 2 and Shivaji Yadav, 55, of Bayarban had died when lightning struck them in the morning same day. Nnnn
