UML ATTEMPTS TO REGAIN LOST GROUND IN TERAI Kathmandu, 25 Aug.: Supported by the party, UML’s Youth Federation Nepal (YFN) Friday launched a two-month Madhes Awareness Campaign as major parties in the region have aligned with Maoists to form a government for more than 10 months. The Mahebadi parties have also aligned with UCPN Maoist to forge a 21-member alliance ahead of national elections for which ruling coalition is preparing as opposition is in disarray. Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai say s his party seeks a two-third majority in constituent assembly (CA) elections to push through a constitution of its choice. President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav foiled a government attempt to order snap polls by proclaiming two election-related ordinances that would empower government to call a vote at any time angering Maoists. Following the first meeting of the 21-member front of ruling and other parties Friday, , the alliance is going to the people with its programmes to win support with election in mind. UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal Friday flagged off the youth team saying it was not against a federation. nnnn
