‘DISQUALIFIED’ MAOISTS CLOSE DOWN RAPTI ANCHAL Kathmandu, 2 Oct. Maoist fighters, who have been disqualified, Tuesday closed down districts of Rapti anchal. They are pressing five demands, including removal of the disqualified tag. Nnnn UML TO CONTINUE WITH PROTEST PLAN Kathmandu, 2 Oct.: CPN (UML) secretary Shankar Pokharel has declared that his party will go ahead with the mass demonstration rally slated for October 5 even if a new government led by UML was formed, RSS reports. Speaking in the interaction programme organized by the Press Chautari Nepal here on Tuesday, he said issues related to price hike, nationality and national consensus would be voiced vociferously in the protest demonstrations on that day. Pokharel is also the Chief of the party´s organizational front. Coordinator of the party´s Valley Coordination Committee, Krishna Gopal Shrestha, said that various 30 people´s class organizations affiliated to the party and the party committees in the Kathmandu Valley would take part in the ´show of strength´ on October 5. Also speaking on the occasion, leaders Bhanubhakta Dhakal and Yogesh Bhattarai, president of Press Chautari Nepal, Gagan Bista and former president Shambhu Shrestha called on the party leadership to make the party´s role in the national politics more effective. Nnnn SEARCH CONTINUES FOR EIGHT MORE MISSING IN ILAM Kathmandu, Oct. 2: Three of the six people killed in a landslide that hit the Mechi Highway at Harkate, Kolbung-1 in Ilam district on Sunday night, have been identified. Fourteen people had gone missing in the disaster, RSS reports from Jhapa.. Those identified are 42-year-old Saran Pradhan and Rabi Gupta of Fikkal-6, Ilam district and 15-year-old Tshering Kesang Kesang Sherpa of Sukepokhari, Darjeeling, India, the District Police Office, Ilam stated. Pradhan´s body was found some 500 metres from the landslide site while the bodies of Gupta and Sherpa were found in the Biring stream flowing through Ghailadubba-9 Jhapa district. Meanwhile, rescuers are continuing the search for eight people who are still unaccounted for after the massive landslide. Nnnn
