BISKET JATRA BEGINS WEDNESDAY Kathmandu, 8 April: Preparations for the Bisket jatra to begin in Bhaktapur Wednesday have been completed, organizers said. Security has been tightened for the first festival or jatra of the Valley with deployment of 1,3000 security personnel. Goddesses Bhairab and Bhadrakali are pulled on chariots during the extended festival. The Seto Machindranath festival in the capital and Rato Machiundranath jatra in Lalitpur follow the Bisket jatra before the rice transplanting season. Along period of rest ensues until the festive Dasain season begins. nnnn. nnnn NEPAL POLICE PLAY HONG KONG NEPALI FEDERATION IN BUDA SUBBA BLD CUP IN DHARAN Kathmandu, 9 April: Nepal Police and Hong Kong Nepali Federation will play in the Buda Subba Gold Cup in Dharan Tuesday. The winner will qualify for the semifinal with Dharan Eleven, Three Star and Nepal Army in the last football tournament of the year before the onset of monsoon. You'll feel like a queen in shimmering shades of silver, pearl, and off-white. I hesitated to think that they knew I was already here, though most of them were looking my direction as I made myself obvious. Carrie Ann was a bit more sympathetic, and even Len was a bit nicer, though neither was really feeling it.
