HIGH-POWERED BODY OF FOUR PARTIES DISCUSS ELECTION Kathmandu, 12 April: A meeting of a high-powered body of three parties and Madesh morcha is underway Friday mainly discussing second constituent assembly elections for which official dates haven’t been announced yet. President Dt. Ram Baran Yadav Thursday promulgated ordinances related to the vote prepared by the previous Bhattarai government and also recommended by the Khil Raj Regmi goverpnment which isn’t ready to fix a date until all preparations are completed for a vote. June elections have been ruled out and a vote is likely in November/December for which UCPN Maoist want announcement of firm dates. Besides discussing elections, the body Friday morning will discuss appointment to constitutional bodies including CIAA chief. Maoists and Madeshi morcha have proposed appointment of former Chief SecretarylOKman Singh Karki to which NC and uML first agreed and later backed out amid internal protests in parties. The parties have been hounding Karki for alleged abuses and excesses when by was chief secretary during the royal regime. nnnn. ONE KILLED, 18 INJURED IN NAWALPARASI ACIDENT Kathmandu, 12 April: One person as killed and 18 others were injured in a direct collision Friday between a bus and truck at Mukundapur in Nawalparasi . A Sikkim national was killed, ,first reports said. Injured are undergoing treatment at Chitwan.. nnnn
