NEPAL ARMY DEFEATS THREE STAR 3-2 TO SECURE THIRD PLACE IN LEAGUE UPDATE Kathmandu, 1 April Nepal Army defeated league Champion Three Star 3-2.in the martyrs memorial A division super league Monday. The deciding goal came one minute before the end of play. Nepal Army secured third position in the tournament. nnnn CHINESE AMBASSADOR UML CHAIRMAN TALKS Kathmandu, 1 April:: UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal held discussons with Chinese Ambassador Wu Chuntai at the former’s residence in Koteshwor Monday. The reviewed current Nepali affairs and strengthening bilateral ties. Ambassador Wu hoped a constitution would be promulgated soon. Nnnn CHAIRMAN REGMI BRIEFS VICE-PRESIDENT ON ELECTION PREPARATION Kathmandu, 1 April: Chairman of the Interim Election Council of Ministers Khil Raj Regmi called on Vice President Parmananda Jha at the latter's office on Monday, RSS reports.. On the occasion, matters relating to country's contemporary situation and preparations for the upcoming election were discussed. During the meeting, Chairman Regmi was learnt to have apprised the Vice President about the progress made so far regarding the election preparations. In response, Vice President Jha suggested that the election government announce the date for the election as quickly as possible after holding discussions with all the bodies concerned. Nnnn WOMAN DIES IN RUJUM FIRE Kathmandu, 1 April:: An elderly woman died in fire in Rolpa district that broke out on Sunday night, RSS reports from Rukum. The deceased has been identified as Putali Khatri, 60, of Ghodagaun VDC in the district. The incident took place due to short circuit. The fire started from a house of Bal Bahadur Khatri. It also destroyed five houses including that of Udiram Khatri, Basanta Khatri, Chitra Bahadur Khatri, Ganesh Shah and six cowsheds, said police. Putali died while undergoing treatment at Butwal, according to the District Police Office, Rolpa.Locals brought the fire under control, but the loss is yet to be ascertained. Meanwhile, Jagriti Women's Agriculture Cooperatives, Ghodagaun, has provided food grains worth Rs. 5,512 to the victim families. RSS nnnn
