Raghiji Pant appointed chief advisor
Kathmandu, 27 May: Raghuji Pant has been appointed chief advisor of Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal.
Pant is a former communications minister and a newspaper columnist.
He was defeated from a Lalitpur constituency in the April 10 constituent assembly elections by a Maoist candidate.
Bishnu Rijal, editor of CPN-UML mouthpiece Budhabar, has been appointed press officer of the premier.

Nepal expresses concern at North Korean nuclear explosion
Kathmandu, 27 May: The new communist-led government of Madhav Kumar Nepal expressed concern at North Korea’s underground explosion.
But coalition partners describe it as a democratic front replacing a Maoist-led government.
The new government installed Saturday asked North Korea to honour the suggestions of six countries dealing with the North Korean nuclear proliferation issue.

New govt. unhappy with UN Office of the High Commission for Human Rights

Kathmandu, 27 May: New Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal Wednesday expressed dissatisfaction with the ‘political role’ of the Nepal office of the UN High Commission for Human Rights.
Nepal told people assembled at the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) the new government had only decided to extend the tenure of the Nepal office of the high commission for only three months.
A three-year extension had been sought.

Krishna Prasad Bhattarai undergoes check-up
Kathmandu, 27 May: Former Prime Minister Krishna Bhattarai’s health condition was described as normal after a 30-munite health check-up at a hospital specializing in heart disease Wednesday.
Bhattarai quit Nepali Congress after it adopted a republican agenda.
After 1990, Bhattarai led Nepali Congress to two election victories in parliamentary elections.
Girija Prasad Koirala colluded with foreign governments to bring down monarchy but conspired twice to bring down the majority-led Nepali Congress governments of Bhattarai and Sher Bahadur Deuba.
Nepal is still suffering a political crisis because of the Koirala conspiracies.
