Govt. has reinforced civilian authority: Govt. spokesman Pokhrel

Kathmandu, 6 Sept: Government Spokesman and Communication Minister Shanker Pokhrel Sunday rejected Maoist charge civilian authority had vanished and said such authority was reinforced by the government of Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal in the last 100 days.
Maoists. he charged, ‘were attempting to spread rumours’.
Civilian authority, instead, had been reinforced in the last 100 days, Pokhrel added while facing Maoist hurdles.
Congress ministers or representatives weren’t present at Pokhrel’s news conference..
Chairman Prachanda told a public meeting in Biratnagar Sunday there was no alternative but to topple the government as Maoists Sunday launched an intensified anti-government to reinforce what the party called civilian authority.
He spend most o his time criticizing PM Nepal and outgoing Army Chief Gun Rukmangud Katawal who Friday blasted Maoists at a farewell reception organized by Nepal Army..
‘There’s no alternative. What can I do when a tree planted started bearing poisonous fruit”” Prachanda said explaining why the Nepal government should be brought down.
“People should not be under the gun but people should have the gun,” he told a public meeting attended by thousands of supporters.

Three killed in Kailali bomb blast

Kathmandu, 6 Sept: Three persons were killed and five were injured in a bomb blast at Tagheri village in Kailali Sunday.
One youth and two children among the dead.
The bomb exploded at Harkha Bahadur Mahata’s home.

Nepal Defence Army chief arrested [with correction from previous story]

Kathmandu, Ram Prasad Mainali, chief of Nepal Defence Army, wanted for several bombings at a church, mosque and Nepali Congress office in the capital, was produced before media in Morang. Sunday.
He was arrested overnight n neighbouring Jhapa district along with four others with arms and ammunition.
Three persons were killed in a church bombing in Lalitpur this year.
Mainali hails from Morang.

Three Madesh parties hold meet

Kathmandu, 6 Sept: Three Madesh parties held a joint meeting in the capital Sunday and discussed the strengthening of government.
The joint meeting came one day after seven of 28 lawmakers of MJFL demanded withdrawal of support for the Madhav Kumar Nepal government.
“This is the time to strengthen the government.” MJFL Spokesman Jitendra Deb said after the meeting.
