Prachanda to address Surkhet meet Monday

Kathmandu, 7 Sept: Continuing an intensified anti-government drive, Maoist Chairman Prachanda is scheduled to address a public meeting in Birendranagar, Surkhet, Monday.
Amik Serchan will also address the meeting.
Maoists launched the public campaign Sunday from Biratnagar, the hometown of Nepali Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala.
Prachanda warned one million people will killed in the next movement; the 10-year Maoist peoples’ war killed more than 13,000 persons on both sides of the conflict until 2006.
Top Maoist leaders are addressing public meetings in urban centers to drum up support for the anti-government protests.
Maoists have called for the toppling of the government to be led by what it called a national government under its leadership.

PM Nepal, Girija meet

Kathmandu, 7 Sept: Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal held political consultations with Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala Monday.
Nepal drove to the Koirala residence for consultations after the Congress president said the future of the government depends of the conduct of Nepal.
A Nepal aide said discussions were held on topical issues while a Koirala said the former prime minister expressed dissatisfaction and complained he wasn’t briefed on the just concluded India visit by the premier.

WHO regional meet starts

Kathmandu, 7 Sept: Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal Monday launched a two-day meet of health ministers of Southeast Asia sponsored by WHO.
Health ministers from 11 regional states will discuss the swine flu pandemic epidemic that has claimed lives in neighbouring countries India and China.
Although from South Asia, WHO has put Nepal is the Southeast Asian region.
At least 31 swine flu cases have been reported in Nepal; they were brought into the country by expatriate Nepalis and two foreigners.
Participants will discuss the effect on health by climate change.

Girija sick

Kathmandu, 7 Sept: Nepali Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala Sunday went for a medical check-up at the MRI Center in Naxal after falling sick, Annapurna Post reports/
A blood test was conducted and a X-ray taken.
Drs Man Bahadur KC, Arjun Karki and Jagdish Agrawal conducted the tests.
Koirala has been advised a few days’ rest.

Ranabir Sena chief arrested

Kathmandu, 7 Sept: Binod Pandey, Ranabir Sena chief, was arrested Sunday in Biratnagar.
Foreign department Chief Shibaraj Fago of Kirat Workers’ Party was also arrested Friday.
Government Sunday held inconclusive talks with five terai groups in the capital.
Peace Mnister Rakam Chemjuing led the government team.
The next round of dialogue will be held 4 November.

74 judges appointed

Kathmandu, 7 Sept: Seventy-four judges were appointed to long vacant posts by the judicial council Sunday.
Forty-seven appellate court judges and 27 district judges were appointed by the council meeting chaired by Chief Justice Min Bahadur Rayamajhi.

Government server hacked

Kathmandu, 7 Sept: Nepal’s main servers were hacked simultaneously Sunday, Nagarik reports.
Hackers targeted government, business and educational institution sites.
The government website at Singha Durbar was hacked.
Likewise, sites hosted by ISP Radiant Infotech, World Link and Everestnet were also hacked.

Prof Sayed Mohammed Habibullah dead

Kathmandu, 7 Sept: Prof Sayed Mohammed Habibullah, 63, has died, an announcement said.
He taught political science at Tribhuvan University.
He represented undivided MJF at the special integration committee headed by then Prime Minister Prachanda.

355 dead in epidemic

Kathmandu, 7 Sept: Government said 355 persons have died of diarrhea until Sunday.
Altogether154 have died in Jajarkot, 49 in Rukum, 31 in Accham, 30 in Dailekh and 16 in Dang.

prof. habibullah's death-a great loss to the nation.he was a man of his kind, very straight forward and very lound and clear.Nepal has lost a mighty voice and a honest think-tank figure.i personally show mt heartfelt grief to his family and his nation at this shocking news.may his soul rest in peace(Amen).
