Last minute effort to end deadlock

Kathmandu, 10 Oct: Three major parties Saturday attempted to break a four-month political deadlock one day before Chairman Prachand leaves for China on a weeklong visit.
Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, Nepali Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala and Chairman Prachanda either met separately or held telephonic discussions Saturday.
Nepal asked Prachanda to nominate a representative for a dialogue while he is away in China. Nepal said at the height on a major political crisis.
There was no breakthrough.
Maoist leader Krishna Bahadur Mahara said the Prachanda visit at the invitation of the Communist Party of China was to strengthen ties between the two countries and the two communist parties.

Discharge of disqualified Maoist combatants from Sunday

Kathmandu, 10 Oct: Peace Minister Rakam Chemjung said Saturday disqualified Maoist combatants from camps under UNMIN watch will begin from Sunday.
Nearly 4,000 plus minors and others were disqualified by UNMIN but are being paid by government in the camps even with foreign help.
Discharge will begin from a camp in Sindhuli.
Maoists are earning from them through a levy imposed by the party.

Rs 500,000 govt. dole for Mohan Chandra Adhikari

Kathmandu, 10 Oct: Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal Saturday announced a Rs 500,000 government dole for ailing communist leader Mohan Chandari Adhikari who is undergoing treatment at a ICU in the capital.
Adhikari was one of the original headhunters of the Jhapa movement.
CPN-UML began their communist movement from Jhapa by killing what they called feudals in the district adjoining Naxalbari in West Bengal, India.
The Naxalite movement has become India’s biggest political problem.
Adhikari has broken links with CPN-UML.

12-hour lead-shedding

Kathgmadu, 10 Oct: Nepal Electriciy Authority (NEA) announced a 12-hour weekly load-shedding from FSatirday.
There was 18-hour loead-shedding evry day last winter.
