RULING MJFN SPLITS (BEAKING NEWS)

Kathmandu, 23 May: Ruling MJFN with 13 lawmakers split Monday at a time when the communist majority government of Prime
Minister Jhalanath Khanal has to collect two-third majority support for a bill for the 9th amendment of an interim constitution to extend by another one year the tenure of constituent assembly 28 May.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Upendra Yadav, who is party chairman, leads the party team in government.
Co-chairman Jayaprakash Prasad Gupta registered Madesh Janatantrik Forum Nepal (NJFN) Republican under his chairmanship at parliament secretariat after the split
The Madeshbadi was the only party from terai supporting the communist majority government.
The split will help main opposition NC and weaken government’s hopes of collecting two-third support to enable the passage of an amendment for al government proposal.
Gupta had been publicly opposing the Yadav faction’s support for the Khanal government.
Yadav defected to MJFN from Maoists while Gupta defected to the regional party from NC.
Three other Madeshbadi parties are aligned with NC
