PROHIBITORY ORDER EXTENDED FOR THIRD CONSECUTIVE DAY IN BIRATNAGAR

THREE-PARTY MEET

Kathmandu, 18 June: A summit of the Big Three—Maoists, NC and UML, is being held Saturday at Baluwatar discuss budget preparations.
Ruling parties Maoists and UML have scheduled the meeting with the main opposition NC one day after President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav urged the parties to present the budget on time with understanding.
The summit will also discuss the delayed implementation of a tripartite five-point agreement that extended the tenure of the constituent assembly for another three month after 28 May.

PROHIBITORY I BIRATNAGAR FOR THIRD DAY

Kathmandu, 18 June: A 10-hour prohibitory order banning public meetings and demonstrations was extended for the third continuous day Saturday in Biratnagar by Morang district administration.
Youth Force, a youth wing of the UML leading the government, in a show of force has come out on the street in the town amid protests against the murderous assault on a reporter.
UML Morang district vice-chairman of the party’s
Youth Association of Nepal Pashuram Basnet has been charged for masterminding the assault.
He has gone into hiding amid charges the party is protecting him
UML Friday asked Basnet to cooperate with authorities in investigations.

PRESIDNET CONSULTS THREE PARTIES

Kathmandu, 18 June: President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav in collective discussions with chiefs of the Big Three Friday asked them to bring the annual national budget on time in mid-July.
Untimely delay presented for two consecutive years because of differences between parties has adversely affected the national economy,
Discussions were held with Maoist Chairman Prachanda, NC President Sushil Koirala and Prime Minister Jhanlanath Khanal, who is chairman of UML’ Maoist General Secretary Ram Bahaudr Thapa also participated.
Ceremonial President Yadav, who can only persuade parties launched discussions with major political players by first consulting Prime Minister Khanal and Speaker Subash Nemwang.
“Untimely budget in the past has adversely affected the economy, Create an environment to present the budget on time with understanding,” Rajendra Dahal, the president’s press advisor quoted Yadav as telling the party chiefs.
The president asked party leaders to implement the tripartite five-point agreement that facilitated the three-month extension of the constituent assembly after28 May.
Three parties in the majority communist government held discussions Friday at Baluwatar to prepare the budget.
Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bharat Mohan Adhikari Friday briefed Speaker Subash Nemwang on his efforts to prepare the budget.
The official position of main opposition NC isn’t clear as yet.
In Adhikari’s meeting with Koirala, the NC party chief linked his party’s support to formation of a national government,
