PARLIAMENT APPROVES BUDGET

Kathmandu, 17 July: Parliament Saturday approved by majority the annual budget 2011/12 presented to the legislature one day earlier by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bharat Mohan Adhikari.
The new fiscal year began Sunday.
For the first time in three years after the declaration of a republic, the national budget was approved by parliament on time.
Fears mounted the budget would again be delayed when a front office Madeshbadi parties to obstruct its presentation delayed by one day.

INDIAN AMBASSAOR RAKESH SOOD APPOINTED AMBASSADOR TO INDIA

Kathmandu, 17 July: Controversial high profile Indian Ambassador Rakesh Sood has been appointed ambassador to India, a published report said.
Maoists hounded him wherever he went outside the Valley charging him for anti-China activities along the Nepal-Tibet border.
Jayant Prasad, whose father Bimal Prasad was also ambassador to Nepal, succeeds Sood.
Jayant Prasad, like Chinese Ambassador Yang Houlan, was India’s ambassador to Afghanistan.

FOUR KILLED, 63 INJURED

Kathmandu, 17 July: Four persons were killed and at least 63 were injured Saturday evening when a bus tumbled 200 meters off the Arniko highway at Rabuopi VDC in neighbouring Kavre.
Police said the bus was overloaded.
Five persons were killed when a jeep skidded and fell 150 meters down a road in Pyuthan Saturday
