Black flags greet prime minister

Kathmandu, 8 Sept: Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal was greeted in Kanchanpur Tuesday with Maoist black flags in continuing protests against him.
Nepal launched an education day yatra or journey from the far-West amid heavy security; the journey will end in the capital.
Several Maoists were injured in clashes with police in Pokhara where Maoists also staged demonstrations against Communication Minister Shanker Pokhrel.
In a softening of ruling CPN-UML attitude to break a political deadlock, general secretary Ishwor Pokhrel said in the capital Tuesday a Maoist demand to discuss a censure motion against President Dr Ram Baran Yadav can be discussed in parliament.
The motion, he said, could be a common proposal.
The demand was previously rejected by major ruling parties.

International call rates slashed

Kathmandu, 8 Sept: Nepal Telecom has slashed international call rates effective from September 17, The Himalayan Times reports.
It has put countries in four categories, A,B,C and D. Budget call that can be done dialing access codes 1425 and 1445 for A countries American, Canada, Malaysia, China, Singapore and Hong Kong is now one third.
B countries rate is reduced by half. Japan, South Korea and Thailand are in the group.
C countries Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Israel and Australia’s rate is reduced by Rs 5 and by Rs 1 to in call rate of D countries.
Earlier the budget call was Rs 25.
NT calls to India that will cost Rs 6 per minute. For SAARC countries—Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka—it will cost Rs 12 per minute in dialing country code.
