‘TRRORISTS’ SPREADING TERROR IN SOUTH: PM KHANAL

Kathmandu, 1 April: Elements in terai described as ‘terrorists;’ by Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal Friday in Chitwan said are spreading terror in the south bordering India taking advantage of the transitional phase.
Government will curb such activities, he assured.
Khanal said he didn’t favour left polarization in politics.
The need, he said, is for collective revolution.

45TH GENERAL MEET OF FNCCI BEGINS 11 APRIL

Kathmandu, 1 April: The two-day 45th assembly of FNCCI will be held in the capital from 11 April, the umbrella body of industrialists and traders said Friday.
New office bearers will be elected by the meeting.
Suraj Vaidya and Azad Shrestha have announced their candidacies for the chief of the body.
Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal will launch the meet.

SURYA BAHADUR THAPA SPEAK

Kathmandu, 1 April: Surya Bahadur Thapa suggested Friday the tenure of the constituent assembly (CA)should be extended as he doesn’t believe a constitution will be promulgated by the second extended deadline on 28 May.
Thapa is a former prime minister and Charman of Rashtriya Janaskahti Party.

SURYA NEPAL TO PROMOTE GOLF

Kathmandu, 1 April: Surya Nepal will promote golf in Nepal with an annual Rs. 11.2 million contribution to Nepal Professional Golfers’ Association (NPGA) Thursday.
Surya Nepal will fund the Association annually for three years with a 10 percent increment every year.
‘When we tied up with golf three years ago, there were just 19 professional golfers in the country but now the number has increased to 44 and I am confident this trend will increase in the coming years,” said Surya Nepal Vice-president Lalshram Buddha Singh.

DETAILS OF KING BIRENDRA ASSETS SEIZED BY GOVT.

Kathmandu, 1 April: The transfer of cash, shares and land in the name of former King Birendra to Nepal Trust continues, Naya Parika reports.
Altogether 142,500 shares with various companies, 43,000 British pound sterling and 5,064 ropanis land has been transferred to the Trust.

DETAILS OF VAT SCAM

Kathmandu, 1 April: at a time, when revenue mobilization has been slow, almost in a state o stagnation, struggling to meet the target, the government could rake in Rs 2.46 billion into its coffer, if the current investigation into fake VA bills is not interrupted, Kuvera Chalise reports in The Himalayan Times.
“After probing 31 tax payers, we have found income tax liabilities come to Rs 1.41 billion and fake VAT liabilities come to Rs 1,5 billion, making a total of Rs 2,46 billion,’ revealed the Inland Revenue Department.
According to an IRD report, using fake VAT bills, three industries have defaulted revenue worth Rs 1 billion, one housing company has defaulted Rs 150 million, eight authored automobile dealers Rs 200million, seven exporters Rs 890 million, four construction companies Rs 810 million, three electronic business houses Rs 110million, three hardware shops Rs 140 million, one multinational company’s authorized dealer Rs 100 million and one supplier has defaulted Rs. 800 million.
“The department has also forwarded a list of 486 tax payers—suspecting them of using fake VAT bills—across the country to keep them under strict watch,” said IRD Chief Rajan Khanal.

MALAYSIA TO ISSUE MORE VISAS FOR NEPALI WORKERS

Kathmandu, 1 April: Malaysia has assured Nepal that it would begin issuing new working visa to Nepali migrants workers after legalizing all illegal foreign workers, On Astha Rai reports in Republica.
At a meeting with Nepali officials in Kuala :Lumpur Thursday Human Resource Minister of Malaysia Dr Subramanium Sathasiva, allayed Nepal’s fear about Malaysian government’s action against migrant workers.
