NO INDEFINITE EXTENSION OF CA SAYS SUPREME COURT
CA TENURE CAN’T BE INDFINITELY EXTENDED
Kathmandu, 25 May: A special five-judge bench of the supreme court chaired by Chief Justice Khem Raj Regmi ruled Wednesday a tenure of the constituent assembly (CA) ‘can’t be indefinitely postponed’, Spokesman . Hamenta Rawal said explaining the decision.
The full legal implications of the decision aren’t yet known.
The apex court quashed the writ filed against the CA extension nearly by two advocates Bal Krishna Neupane and Bharat Jangam claiming a decision to extend the assembly 2010 was unconstitutional.

The court was reviewing a decision of another three-member special court that said a CA term can be extended until a constitution is drafted.
The three-member bench gave the ruling November 4, 2010
With only three days remaining for the tenure of the CA to end, government has proposed a one-year extension after28 May.
