GOVT. FAILS TO PRESENT BILL FOR CA EXTENSION UPDATE
Kathmandu, 23 May: For the second successive day Monday evening, government failed amid obstruction from opposition to register a bill in parliament to extend a tenure of the constituent assembly (CA) for one more from 28May.
The session was adjourned until Tuesday afternoon.
Speaking during special hour, speakers, including main opposition NC parliamentary leader Ram Chandra Paudel, said his party would obstruct the bill presentation until a national understanding to extend an assembly term after 28 May Saturday.
Seventeen parties, including NC, earlier decided to oppose amendment to extend the CA tenure without national understanding.
The parties said 10-point demands of NC and three party Madeshbadi demands should be fulfilled for national understanding.

DETAILS OF SPECIAL COMMITTEE DECISION WITH CORRECTION
Kathmandu, 23 May: A situation center for monitoring 19,000 plus combatants will be established with four members each from three state security agencies and PLA.
This was decided by the special committee headed by Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal Monday.
In-service personnel will man the center; teams being sent to monitor former rebel camps will be serving personnel, Barsha Man Pun said.
The center will prepare a report on the situation at cantonments and satellite camps.

FIRST AFRO-NEPAL FILM FESTIVAL
Kathmandu, 23 May: The first three-day Nepal-Africa film festival to enhance ties between Himalayan state of Nepal and countries in Africa was inaugurated by Communication Minister Agni Sapkota.in the capital Monday.
A Nepali mass communication institute is organizing the festival.
