UML CC-MEET STARTS, MEETS AGAIN TUESDAY UPDATE
Kathmandu, 12 Sept.: The 11th meeting of the Central Committee of the CPN-UML on Monday concentrated on finalising the proposed agenda for the meeting, RSS reports.
Two more proposals were added today to the nine different proposals including on contemporary politics and internal issues of the party determined on Sunday by the Standing Committee meeting for the CC meeting today.
The added proposals are on dual responsibility in the proposed party organisation, and on designating a special meeting for the assessment of the government, parliament and party's work.
The proposals finalised by the Standing Committee are related to the changed national political situation, peace and constitution, meeting of the national representatives council, work division of the central committee members, reports of various commissions, report of the financial department, state restructuring commission and formation of the parliamentary board.
Talking to reporters following the meeting today, Chief of the UML Publication and Publicity Department, Pradip Gyawali said discussion was held today to hold the meeting of the national representatives’ council following the special assessment of the central committee.
Chairing the meeting, party Chairman Jhalanath Khanal said that the four-point agreement reached between the UCPN-Maoist and the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) could create obstacles to completing the peace and constitution making process.
According to Mr Nepal, Chairman Khanal said that the present Government based on the foundation of the controversial four-point agreement and by sidelining the democratic forces including the UML does not provide any reliable base to become successful in the goal of peace and constitution.
Talking about the 'result-oriented' works of the government executed during the period of his leadership, party Chairman Khanal said his party would play a constructive role in concluding the peace process and constitution drafting process, according to a press statement issued by party's secretary Yubaraj Gywali after the meeting.
Party vice chairman Bamdev Gautam, general secretary Ishwor Pokharel, standing committee members KP Sharma Oli, Khagaraj Adhikari, Raghuji Panta, Ghanashyam Bhusal, Lalbabu Pundit, Yogesh Bhattarai, Mukunda Neupane, Dr Bijay Poudel, Brim Bahadur Rawal, Arun Nepal, Astalaxmi Shakya, Thakur Gaire, Mahendra Bahadur Pandey, Ramchandra Shah, Pradeep Gyawali and Jitu Gautam also expressed their opinions on the meeting agenda and the contemporary political situation in the country.
They stressed on the need to analyze the four-point agreement between the UCPN (Maoist) and the United Madhesi Democratic Front and the nature of coalition between them, focusing on strengthening of the party and organizational management.
The meeting is expected to start discussions on the formal proposals from Tuesday, it is learnt.
