Prachanda demands immediate announcement of election result

By Bhola B Rana

Kathmandu, 5 April: Chairman Prachanda demanded an immediate announcement of election result and international observers were conspiring to overturn a Maoist victory in the 10 April assembly election.
“Observers without being biased and unmindful of result should announce the result immediately.
It’s learnt if the vote goes in favour of Maoists it will be declared rigged and if Maoists lose it will be judged fair,” Prachanda told Samya Friday.
Maoists have been making such charges consistently as election day approaches.
‘The observers are going to speak only after the result and not immediately,” Prachanda charged according to a prepared strategy.
He even said 100,000 observers aren’t needed for a relatively small country like Nepal.

PL Singh says people have again been turned into slaves; constituent assembly can’t decide for people

By Bhola B Rana

Kathmandu, 5 April: Congress rebel leader PL Singh and former Kathmandu mayor said people have again been turned into slaves—this time of seven parties—and demanded an alternative.
“ Congress and CPN-UML have now have begun to blindly follow Maoists and their guns. They are united in sidelining those who disagree with them.
“Nepali people have again become slaves of the seven parties. Many Nepalis understand this,. A political outlet is necessary. A search for an alternative is necessary,” he told Samya.
“I was elected by the people. I didn’t want to be part of a parliament nominated by the king,” Singh said explaining his boycott of parliament.
He said seven parties endorsed the royal reinstatement of a parliament they first said was illegally dissolved by the monarch.
“I can’t understand how this can be justified morally?’ Singh asked. “These leaders are responsible in making the king dictatorial.”
He charged seven parties empowered to king to reinstate parliament although he didn’t have such authority.
Singh said a constituent assembly doesn’t have the power to declare a republic as the country heads for a vote.
“The people should decide. The people shouldn’t be made a prisoner of others’ decision.”
