PAC DIRECTIVE TO DISMANTLE OVERHEAD BRIDGES
Kathmandu, 18 Nov.: The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the Legislature-Parliament has reiterated its directive to the body concerned to continue the maintenance of the roads by dismantling the overhead bridges being constructed inside the Ring Road, RSS reports.

A meeting of the Committee held in Singha Durbar on Friday gave such directive based on the committee's directive issued to the Kathmandu Metropolitan City on August 1.

The Committee also directed the Kathmandu Metropolis, the Ministry of Physical Planning and Works and the Ministry of Local Development to abide by the previous directive as the maintenance work on the Ring Road is likely to start soon.

Committee's chair Ram Krishna Yadav urged the Office of the Council of Ministers to provide information about the implementation part of the directive.

During the meeting, Minister for Physical Planning and Works Hridayesh Tripathi informed the Committee's members that the directive to halt the construction works of the overhead bridges inside the Ring Road was not implemented as these structures were constructed by laying foundation stone by the top leaders.

Secretary at the Ministry, Tulsi Sitaula said that contractors concerned were continuing the construction works on the overhead bridges in the hope of getting compensation through it was sure that such overhead bridges would be demolished as a technical team from Chinese government has conducted a survey from Kalanki to Koteshwor road section to widen the road.

WORLD BANK NEPAL COUNTRY MANAGER INTRODUCED TO PM


Kathmandu, 18 Nov.:Tahseen Sayed, new country manager for
Nepal of World Bank, was introduced to Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai Friday.
World Bank Country Director for Nepal and Bangladesh Ellen Goldstein introduced Sayed to the premier, a statement said.
Goldstein is based in Dhaka after downgrading the Bank’s presence in the Himalayan state.
