CIAA INVESTIGANG IRREGULARITIES IN JUST CONCLUDED NATIONAL GAMES
Kathmandu, 23 March: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority has launched an investigation into the alleged corruption of millions of rupees during the Sixth National Games held in Dhangadhi last month. A source at the anti-graft body said CIAA suspects that about Rs 30 million, out of Rs 220 million spent, was misappropriated during the national games. “We have sought details of expenditures and other related documents,” a highly placed CIAA official told The Himalayan Times. According to him, the anti-graft body launched the investigation by forming a committee led by AIG Ramesh Shekhar Bajracharya after a complaint was filed at the CIAA claiming that there was embezzlement of millions of rupees during the national games.
